Helping Yolo County Foster Youth

Easton Painting in cooperation with the Woodland Sunrise Rotary, provided 27 Cabela duffel bags filled with “life essential” items to help emancipating foster youth transition to independent living and further their education and employment.

This is the seventh year that Don has spearheaded this community outreach effort with his family. Don’s family made careful selections making the $3300 donated for the supplies, stretch to as many life essentials as possible. One receipt literally stretched to 18 feet long!

Each duffel bag, which its contents is valued at $120, and includes 64 items falling into four categories: laundry supplies, cook ware, bathroom/personal hygiene products, and school supplies.

After securing the supplies came careful organizing of over 1700 items in which all four of Don’s four kids helped in inventorying, separating, stuffing, and arranging the duffel bags.

At the annual emancipation celebration in May, the accomplished 18-year old young adults beamed with delight and appreciation.
